Long time no see!
Its been a while since I have posted anything to my blogs. Two years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer but after surgery and chemotherapy I have been cancer free for 2 years, Last summer I traveled home to Santa Rosa, NM for my 40th class reunion. It was a wonderful trip with time spent with the best people I know. While in New Mexico I took Dana up to Sandia Crest. On the east side of Albuquerque (and two miles high) I took this photo. You can see the edge of the city if you look closely. If you've never been up there I encourage you to go, its breath taking.

La Placita - Albuquerque, NM
La Placita Restaurant on the plaza in Old Town Albuquerque - what I wouldn't give to be having lunch there today...or any day..or better yet - everyday. Fantastic food and wonderful artwork - feed your body and you soul at the same time. I love this place. Originally Casa de Armijo, I can only imagine what a beautiful home this must have been. I think I was born about 100 years too late.

Blue Hole - Santa Rosa, NM

Truly the gem of Guadalupe County...okay, its at least one of the gems.
Blue Hole is a natural beauty - a sink hole 80 feet deep that is feed by an underground spring. 3000 gallons of water per minute accounts for the water being crystal clear. On the hottest summer afternoon or the coldest winter morning this miracle maintains a year round temperature of 64 degrees. Divers from all over visit this charming little spot. I will admit to doing a little photoshop editing to eliminate any signs of humans in order to create the Blue Hole of my memory and my dreams.

Home for Christmas 2010
We decided at the spur of the moment to go to New Mexico for Christmas. What beautiful New Mexico weather we had. in the 50's the entire time. Reminded me of a special Christmas from my past when my best friend Marilyn and me hiked out to Table Top (mesa) on Christmas Eve.

Happy Easter
Digitally altered photograph of the Santa Inez Chapel in Puerta de Luna, New Mexico
Natural photograph of Santa Inez Chapel in Puerta de Luna, New MexicoToday is Easter and the wind is howling. What's amusing is that it actually makes me feel at home way up here in Missouri.
New Mexico springs are not polite. The wind reminds me of an old woman with a new broom sweeping the house clean on Saturday for company on Sunday.....an old woman mad at an old man...
I can remember walking to school or to town and the warm spring New Mexico wind whipping stinging sand across my legs. Heaven help you if a dust devil crossed your path.
I vividly remember sitting in my fathers cafe and watching the wind roll huge tumble weeds town Sunshine Hill. The force of the gale would wedge them under automobiles in the parking lot.
Easter in New Mexico is seldom church hat friendly. Barbecues are a struggle, egg hunts are completed swiftly and the multitude of relatives are usually crowed into your kitchen because the lawn chairs blew away before the food could be served.
Still, its encouraging to know that the beautiful New Mexico summr days are on thier way. So we chase paper plates across the back yard and look forward with joy.
